Hiking Reid Falls in Skagway, Alaska
We began our day with a delightful Klondike Doughboy and a cup of coffee before setting off to Reid Falls. The trailhead for Reid Falls, located 40 minutes away from downtown Skagway, was our destination. We entered Reid Falls into Google Maps and commenced our adventure. The route took us around the outskirts of town, behind the Skagway Recreation Center, past the Skagway City School, and through some picturesque neighborhoods. After crossing the railway tracks, we continued for another 0.80 miles to reach the trailhead. This stretch was along a gravel road frequented by taxis, buses, and shuttles, which made for a dusty walk. Upon reaching the trailhead, we embarked on a brief hike to the lower Reid Falls. The trail provided a good workout, as it consisted of uphill paths with twists and turns, featuring dirt paths and large rocks interspersed with tree roots.
